What kind of healing do you need?

reiki

Let’s start with a hypothetical question. Let’s say hypothetically you were diagnosed with some type of cancer that could still be treated with chemotherapy. Do you think it would be one session of chemo that would fix it?

Better yet (and less serious), let’s say you need a root canal. Do you think your dentist would tell you it can be done in one visit?

How about we take it out of the medical/dental field and go somewhere more luxurious such as a beauty salon. If you are someone who gets color treatment on their hair to hide (ahem) their grays, do you think you can accomplish that in one session?

Do you see where I am going with this? The answer is NO to all of them.

Chemotherapy is a couple of sessions taken over a couple of weeks until they check and check again to make sure all signs of cancer are eradicated. I recently had a friend who underwent close to a year of radiation and chemotherapy treatments because they discovered a tumor on his throat. A year of treatments.

The dentist visit? At best, it is at least three visits. The first to take X-rays and talk shop. The second to repair the tooth and put a temporary crown on it and the third visit for the permanent crown.

Forget it about hair. Once you start, you are committed for the rest of your life. Or so I have heard. I wouldn’t know…..I heard it…..from a friend.

The point I am trying to drive home is this…….YOU as a consumer and active person of interest into your own health and upkeep….you already understand and follow the protocol for body and mind care and can handle the fact that it takes a couple of sessions to reach completion. If you know this, then why…..why do you hassle natural healers to perform miracles in ONE session?

Over the years I have had a surprising number of clients who have popped up on my schedule expecting nothing less than the impossible.

Client #1- “I have been suffering from a host of issues for over a year now. I have seen every kind of healer I could see and now I am here. If you don’t help me, I don’t know what I will do.”

Results- Client attended one session and wrote back after two days that “nothing is working.” She immediately cut communication and left the practice.

Client #2-“I have been under a psychiatrist care over five years now and am on medication. I don’t feel like this reiki or meditation stuff is working. I feel worse than before and feel like killing myself.”

Results- *The red card was pulled (because client mentioned possible self harm, I had to advise her to seek medical counsel and let her go.) and even though I had to let client go, she was upset she didn’t heal right away.

I am not sure why there is an influx of these clients (I call them “One and Done”) and I can only imagine it is either because:

1) My reputation as a world class healer (tongue in cheek) precedes me and now the stakes are higher for services.

2) People are getting fed up with their situations and want healing NOW.

I am leaning more to the latter and if that is the case….and you are identifying with this article, then let me clear up some things concerning natural healing and a client.

Your sessions depend on how long you have been suffering with the issue:

I once had a client come to me for a reiki session. She was on antidepressants for over 12 years! And clearly under the care of a psychiatrist. She was emotionally cut off from her husband and leading a dreary life in a dead end job. She had no passion and I could see the dull glaze in her eyes due to the constant medication.

After the session, she said she felt a little better and I looked her right in the eye and said, “Lady if you want me to make more than a dent in this energy fog, I need at least 10 sessions.” She was as surprised as I was because trust me, I did not plan to say that, it just sort of popped out.

Well I guess it was what she needed to hear. She signed up and came obediently every week. That was the longest I ever saw a client and you know, it was a learning experience for us both. She would show up and I would work on her and in time I got to know more about her through the sessions and small talk we would have. Her sessions started off as energy healing but by the end, it also included life coaching as well. We were tearing down the wall that was set up so long ago. The sun was peeking in and we were both loving it.

By the end of the 10 sessions, she had come completely off her medication and she didn’t want to stop! She signed up for another 10 sessions and we kept going. Her relationship with her husband improved after they sought couples counseling and she even quit her job and started a new career. BY the complete end of the 20 sessions, she was literally a whole new woman. That client taught me alot. She taught me that through intent, strong willpower and trust in a process, we can all change our lives. I have not heard from her in years and you know what? I am happy. I know she is somewhere living happily and creating the life she desires.

THIS is the story I want to share with my clients, clients of other healers and potential clients to us all. We cannot wipe out decades of hurt, pain, fear and negativity in one session, we need more.

Many times my fellow healers KNOW you need more sessions but fear, anxiety and lack of confidence prevents them from sharing their truth with you. Many of us do not want to be seen as business people or doing this for the money (trust me we are not). So we try to keep it casual and say something like, “Ok well let me know when you would like another session.”

What we really want to say is, “Man you are messed up! You know I can help! You can see me for service A, product B, service C and a three pack of service D and we will be set to go!”

Ok maybe not as harsh, but you know what I mean. We would love to honestly tell you that you need more than one session, but our services has gotten a bad rep in the community due to some shady characters (think Miss Cleo).

But you know what YOU can do? You can help your healer out. First of all, you have clear intuition. Either before or after a session, you KNOW you are with the right healer. After a session, don’t be shy! Ask your practitioner, “So what do you think? Am I one and done or are we doing this dance for a bit?” Trust me, it will help you and your healer develop clear communication and a plan for your healing.

The first session with a healer is more like a consultation and general mapping, not the excavation of the issue. When a client comes in to see me, we spend quite a bit talking before they move to the table. Why? Because spiritual healing has less to do with physical symptoms and more to do with emotional and mental trauma caused over the years and stored in the body.

I want to know what you were thinking when the symptoms first appeared. It is here in the knowing, that I get to empathically feel your pain and then the map appears…leading me to the energetic knot in your back that I can then remove easily. Of course, this is my method…and every healer is different! BUT it doesn’t matter. We all have our own process of working, and the magic lies in our unique ways.

When you come in to see us for a first session, we didn’t even crack the surface …especially if it is an hour or less. We got to stay above the surface…play on the sand on the beach…maybe we find a shiny, pretty shell or not…but in the end we all feel good for a little bit.

The more you come in for a session, the deeper you allow the exploration to go and its pretty much like giving a healer scuba equipment and saying have at it! We then can go the distance and find the buried treasure in the sunken ship at the bottom of the ocean. YOU are way more happier with gold and pearls than a shiny shell. It can be life changing.

There are different types of sessions. Know what you need and the results will match your expectations. Your expectations have to match the reality. With any client I see, I ask them “What is your general plan with healing?” Most times they don’t know. Well I am here to help you with that. As a client, you more than likely fall into one of three categories:

 1) The Experimenter

 2) The Healer

 3) The Grower

The Experimenter heard of services through friends or media and want to try it to see what it is like. They are not committed to a long term plan because they are more interested in saying they had it done at least once than none at all.

*Healer friends, do not give up on Experimenters! I myself have converted many to Healers and Growers because they enjoyed the session so much, they kept coming back. Never say never!

The Healer is seeking services because they have an issue and they don’t want to go the route of traditional medicine and healing. Either they have gone that route and were let down or they prefer a more natural and organic type of healing. These clients are more open to a treatment plan and long term options of care. I reward these clients with package discounts and sometimes freebies depending on how often they come. I have a couple of people who have been seeing me steadfastly every month for years and they are close to my heart so I cater to them. This is the kind of privilege you can get as a client if you remain in good communication with your healer.

The Growers are people who are interested in their spiritual path and growth so they turn up every couple of weeks or months when they feel a “dip” in their energy and need a boost. I love these clients too (who am I kidding, I love them all) because they are more open to learning the healing modalities for themselves and frequently end up in my classes. They are not so much interested in starting a business but to learn self healing techniques for themselves and loved ones.

As a client you can place yourself in one of the categories and seek a healer out. This alleviates the pain of disappointments if results don’t come your way. If you have problems with bowel movements and decide to see a healer one time (experimenter), chances are you will be unhappy because your goals did not match up with your expectations.

Be proactive in your care, discuss with your healer what you are going through and then set a plan. Remember your healer is here to work with you not command you or work against you.

As with everything in life, healing takes time. If you are willing to give your healing process the time it needs, work and communicate with your healer ….you can expect to see the miracles come about. We the healers celebrate right alongside with you.

In love and light,

Uma xo
